The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, says the claim by the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, that he donated N10 million to victims of the April 5 robbery in Offa “is patently false.’’ In a statement issued on Monday in Lagos, the minister admonished the Senate President “to stop dancing on the graves of the innocent souls” who died in the bloody robbery attack in Offa. The statement signed Mr Segun Adeyemi, the Special Adviser to the Minister, was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja. “He did not! The N10 million he referred to was donated when the Offa market got burnt and it was made in Ilorin, not Offa. “When Dr Saraki visited Offa to commiserate with the community in the aftermath of the robbery, he did not donate a dime! Nigerian’s Second Republic President, Alhaji Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari GCFR,, Shehu Shagari is dead. He was 93 years old. This was confirmed some moments ago by his grandson and the President of The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCNI), Bello Shagari, who tweeted “I regret announcing the death of my grandfather, H.E Alhaji Shehu Shagari, who died right now after brief illness at the National hospital, Abuja.” Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari GCFR, served as the first and only President of Nigeria’s Second Republic, after the handover of power by General Olusegun Obasanjo’s military government. Shagari also served seven times in a ministerial or cabinet post as a federal minister and federal commissioner from 1958–1975.

After news circulated the media earlier today about Davido slapping Kizz Daniel’s manager; Tumi, people have been waiting to get a response from Davido concerning the issue. Their requests have now been granted as Davido  took to his social media to clarify the issue. He said there are lies in the accusations pointed to him by Kizz Daniel’s manager. He said he feels pained as he never touched the Tumi and that he wants him to tell the truth.

As estimated 700 soldiers are missing with more than 2,000 trapped following a Boko Haram attack on Thursday that culminated in the loss of Baga, a town in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, by the Nigerian Army. A faction of the insurgents loyal to Abu Musab al-Barnawi attacked Baga, lying northeast of Kukawa, and succeeded in dislodging the soldiers and hoisting their flags. According to an aid worker who spoke with SaharaReporters, “a large number of soldiers are still missing and many others are trapped.” “Boko haram has taken over Baga town,” said the source. “More than 2,000 troops are there trapped, and 700 are missing. [Air Force] jets cannot do anything now because the soldiers are trapped in their midst”. Scores of police personnel have invaded the residence of the controversial lawmaker representing Kogi West in the National Assembly, Senator Dino Melaye. The invasion of the lawmaker’s Abuja residence located at 11 Sangha street, off Mississippi, Maitama, took place some minutes after Midday today. Presently,  the street where his house is located has been cordoned off by security operatives with Toyota Hilux operational vehicles. Melaye had raised the alarm a few days ago over an attempt by the Federal Government to assassinate him.

Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, Femi Otedola, billionaire businessman and Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have been named members of the ruling party’s presidential campaign council for the 2019 elections. Femi Adesina, presidential spokesman, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday. The council made up of at least 70 individuals. It is co-chaired by Buhari and Tinubu,with Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and Adams Oshiomhole, APC national chairman, as deputy chairmen. Rotimi Amaechi, minister of transportation, is still in charge as its director-general. Also on the council are all serving and former governors and members of the national assembly in the party. The ruling party will kick off its reelection campaign in Uyo, capital of Akwa Ibom state, in a few hours.
